Targeted Intervention

Targeted intervention as a strategy for prevention has proved to be an effective means to contain the prevalence of HIV in the state of Rajasthan. Currently there are 47 TIs working with core groups. As many as 2 TIs are working with MSM & 6 with IDUs, 19 are working with FSW population and 11 are core composite interventions. Similarly, 6 TIs are working with migrant population and 3 TIs are working with truckers. Thus total number of 47 TIs are working in Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society under theTarget Intervention.

Targeted Interventions emphasize and focus on the following elements that are the core activities of a TI: Information gathering Behaviour change communication Access to STI services to be provided by the NGO itself or by arrangement with a public / private facility, Monitoring access and utilization of condoms Ownership building, and An enabling environment
